Paid Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Internships in New Zealand

paid internshipsNew Zealand features rainforests, fjords, towering alpine peaks, golden sand beaches, rolling surf, and thousands of square miles of untouched bush, making it the perfect place to intern and explore a new country and culture during your time off.  The South Island where the internships take place is the adventure capital of the world and offers jet boating, river rafting, bungee jumping, sea kayaking, and trekking.  Few places in the world have so much to offer.

Internships in New Zealand

Placements begin with a 5-day orientation, that introduces you to New Zealand's customs and culture, the hospitality industry, employment relations, and helps you set up a banking account.  You can join in the many campus activities and meet like-minded students and interns.

Internship Placements and Pay

Placements are typically available in hotels, lodges, resorts, cafes, and restaurants. Limited placements are available at ski resorts, jet boat operators, bungee jumping locations, and other adventure-type activities.  You'll work up to 40 hours per week with variable schedules, and usually have two consecutive days off. The stipend is approximately US$1400 (NZ$1920) per month, depending on experience and qualifications.

Sample placements include front office, housekeeping, bar or food and beverage in a hotel, and customer service positions for a tourism operator.
