Internship Placements Now Available in South America from InterExchange Working Abroad

NEW YORK, NY — August 2008 InterExchange’s Working Abroad program (www.workingabroad.org) announces the launch of two new internship programs for college students and young professionals who wish to gain work experience while learning about the culture and languages of South America.

The Intern in Argentina and the Intern in Chile program places college students and career-minded young professionals in short-term professional internships in the cities of Buenos Aires, Cordoba, and Santiago. InterExchange has a network of established Argentine and Chilean employers who can provide entry-level internship positions in over 20 different fields, including Finance, Architecture, Engineering, Education, Marketing, Science and Health among others. Some internships may also be customized according to the participant’s needs. All program participants will also benefit from a Spanish language immersion course to polish their language skills before beginning their internship. These 10-week internship programs include all accommodations, meals, and project-related travel.

Short-term international internships are less time-consuming than many study abroad programs. Students or young professionals who cannot afford to spend up to a year abroad see the value in combining a language immersion component with real-world work experience. According to Tara Cavanagh, Working Abroad Program Manager, “Many of our participants can’t take a year off to study abroad. It’s just not practical for them. They want to broaden their experience so that they’re prepared for the global economy, but they also want to stay in the workforce while they continue their education. These internships are a fantastic opportunity for them to earn and learn at the same time.”

The Intern in Argentina and Intern in Chile programs are just the latest addition to the InterExchange roster of programs. They join the highly successful Intern in New Zealand program, which places interns in Hotel and Tourism industry positions in the resort town of Queenstown, New Zealand.

Working Abroad is a part of InterExchange, Inc. (www.interexchange.org), a non-profit organization with over 40 years of experience in international cultural and work exchange programs. Other Working Abroad programs include Au Pair Abroad, Work & Travel Abroad, Volunteer Abroad and Teach English Abroad. Programs are available in Central and South America, Europe, Africa, India, and Australia.
