Conservation Volunteer in Australia Program

New York, NY – March 2006 Working Abroad (www.workingabroad.org) announces the launch of a new Volunteer in Australia program for college students, professors, and other young adults.

The Conservation Volunteer in Australia program offers a fun way to travel and make new friends while helping to conserve the Australian environment. This 4-6 week program includes all accommodations, meals, and project-related travel.

Volunteer projects include:

Tree planting, seed collection and weed control
Endangered flora and fauna surveys
Construction and maintenance of walking trails
Heritage and habitat restoration
Erosion and salinity control

Volunteers work alongside other international volunteers and Australians and enjoy a variety of projects and locations throughout the program. According to Tara Cavanagh, Working Abroad Program Manager, “The Conservation Volunteer in Australia program is unique in that volunteers have the option of changing their volunteer project every 2 weeks. This means volunteers in Australia under this project can experience many different parts of this unique country through one volunteer program.”
