Volunteer In Peru
International Volunteer programs include placement, housing and meals.
Discover Peru's rich cultural diversity firsthand by living and working in Cuzco, the ancient capital of the Incan Empire and the oldest city in the Western Hemisphere. Cuzco features open markets, adobe houses, and narrow, winding cobblestone streets. Nearby attractions include the archeological wonders of Machu Picchu (the Lost
City of the Incas, forgotten for over 300 years), the rainforests of Manu, and the Sacred Valley of the Incas.
The program runs year-round and you can start on any Monday. You'll spend the first 4 weeks of your stay taking 20 hours of Spanish language instruction per week at one of Cuzco's leading language schools. After the educational program, you'll move onto the 4-week prearranged project of your choice in or near Cuzco. Click here to see a few of the Volunteer Projects offered in Peru.
The Spanish Language School
The language school is located in a colonial building just one block from the main square (the Plaza de Armas) and is equipped with 25 multimedia classrooms, language lab, study room, a spacious meeting room and a sunny terrace. From the school's doorstep, you can enjoy the view of the Andes, and the famous Inca ruins and magical city of Machu Picchu are a short trip away. Small class sizes of no more than 6 students and an interactive teaching method that focuses on grammar, vocabulary, and conversational skills allows students to develop confidence in both the written and spoken language. After a placement test, students are placed in classes according to their level of Spanish - from beginner to superior levels.
Room and Board While Volunteering in Peru
Accommodation is included in the Program Fee for the duration of the 8- week program.
Language School Housing
During the 4-week language course you will be living with a Peruvian host family, which will allow you the opportunity to get to know the country and its people better, as well as to practice your language skills outside of the classroom setting. Host families are selected with great care and are always located within a 25-minute bus ride of the language school. You will be provided with your own room and 3 meals per day. Laundry service is available. You will be given your own keys to come and go as you please, and you will be able to receive phone calls during your stay.
Volunteer Project Housing
Your housing during the 4-week volunteer placement will be in a student residence building adjacent to the language school. You will share one of its 14 bedrooms with another volunteer or student, and have access to 6 shared bathrooms. Breakfast and lunch are included during your stay and a kitchen and living room area are also provided.
